Congratulations and Well Done to the 9 teams that entered the above competition. Teams from 8th Mirfield, 9th Mirfield, Dewsbury West and 7th Batley took part at 8th Mirfield HQ.
The competition was based on the Ready Steady Cook TV programme, where each team is given a bag of the same ingredients and they have to devise their own menu. A few extra ingredients are available to use from the store, such as flour eggs herbs and seasonings.
I arrived at about 1.30pm and just missed out on the starters, but looking at the Judges faces, there had been some excellent food served by the Scouts (maximum age 13).
The Scouts were all busy preparing their main meals as I wandered around. I was impressed by their workstations, as I had expected finding a bit of a disaster area. Most of the areas were very well laid out.
As each team finished and served their main courses, I watched the judges tasting and awarding marks. They all seemed impressed with what they saw and tasted. The teams then made their deserts.
The overall winners of the competition were Alex and Will from 8th Mirfield. Teams from 8th and Dewsbury West came 2nd and 3rd.
A big Thank You to Tom Lynch for arranging the competition, to Sue Pope and 8th Mirfield for hosting the competition, to the judges and finally to the Scouts for taking part.
